Off The Beaten Path at River's Bend
12" x 9"
Oil on Panel
I started this one with a pink background because I knew it's compliment "green" would be the primary color on top and trying to follow Anne Blair Browns's teachings on "notan" and to get the big shapes in without much drawing and then pull and push to correct values before painting. .....also....constantly thinking about keeping my paint piles from mixing on the palette so I don't make mud...lol...whew lot to keep up with 😉
“There may come to be new places in our lives that are
second spiritual homes – closer to us in some ways, perhaps, than our original
home. But the home tie is the blood tie. And had it meant nothing to us, any
other place thereafter would have meant less, and we could carry no compass
inside ourselves to find home ever, anywhere at all. We would not even guess
what we had missed. “
Here's a quick plein air still life study. Working with adding and subtracting (using paper towel) to get values correct with big shapes then painting quickly without really drawing too much. ...so much out of my comfort zone but very valuable information.
AirBNB in Columbia, TN
I also stayed in an Airbnb in Columbia, TN owned by Cindy and Garrett that I can't say enough good stuff about. I loved it! https://www.airbnb.com/rooms/21745293?s=67&shared_item_type=1&virality_entry_point=1&sharer_id=290331776
